College English rocks!!!

I have officially started my senior year of high school! Huzzah!!! [cue fireworks and streamers] My time in high school is drawing to a close. It feels like just yesterday I wandered into the colorful walls of the high school I've come to know and love as a tiny little freshman. And I have to say that this looks like it's going to be the best year of them all. I have all sorts of neat privileges that come with being a senior: being able to use the gym during lunch, being able to eat outside, and being at the top of the high school hierarchy. I have College English, Spanish 5, Oceanography, and Computer Science this semester. For once, I can't pick a favorite teacher!! My English teacher is wacky and really tries to connect with all of us. I've always loved my Spanish teacher and his class is always fun in it's own unique way. My oceanography teacher seems to really know what she's doing, and she's very passionate about her field. My computer science teacher knows what's she's doing, and even though the topics in class confuse the heck out of me, she makes it a very enjoyable way to end the day.

Right now, I'm really loving my English class. I've always been really good at it, and I feel like it will be my favorite this semester. My teacher makes an effort to reach out to all of us, and she has a website and a blog right here on Blogger to help us all keep in touch and connect with each other. Even though I've spent 3 full and awesome years with everyone, I've never had a chance to work with all of them in the way that this website lets us. We can say whatever we're thinking and comment on each other. It's pretty awesome. College English is turning into something other than a way out of reading a lot of British literature, and I can't wait to see what happens this year.

On a more literature-related note, I have started writing again. Or at least trying to. I wrote a poem and it was my longest one yet-- 40 lines!!! It came out really well, but it still isn't my best. I think that I am going to post my poems. I'm more confident and I think that they're good. I'm not walking around telling people that my writing is godly and that I'm the best poet ever. I"m still a novice and I will be until I've been writing until I'm 40. (See, I did learn something in English last year!!!) I've gotten about a page of chapter 3 done. I just sat down one night and started writing, and I was surprised at how much came out. I barely even thought about what I was writing, but it came out really well. It's still just providing backstory, so I feel like I don't need to think about it. As long as I can get into my characters' heads, I should be just fine. Toodle oo for now!
